About Me
Hi, I'm Trager Shultz, a senior at Pleasant Plains High School in Pleasant Plains, IL. I’ve been fortunate to be part of a strong baseball tradition at Pleasant Plains, where I’ve been a varsity starter for three years, playing primarily as the center fielder. Our program is known for producing athletes with solid character and a deep understanding of the game. I take pride in being part of that legacy.
Although Pleasant Plains is a 2A school, we consistently compete against many of the top 2A and 3A schools in Illinois, including Glenwood, SHG, Normal U High, Maroa, and Teutopolis, which has helped me grow as a player.
Last year, I was honored to be named to the IHSBCA 2A All-State Team, the Sangamo All-Conference Team, and the SJR All-Area Team. It’s important for me to say that these recognitions wouldn’t have been possible without my team.
Here are some of my stat highlights from the 2024 season:
.477 Batting Average (41 Hits in 87 At Bats)
.541 OBP (104 Plate Appearances)
16 RBI
32 Runs
22 Stolen Bases
While I’ve been fortunate at the plate, I’m mostly known for my defensive skills in center field. I work hard to cover as much ground as possible, and with a .983 fielding percentage, many coaches and competitors regard me as one of the top defensive center fielders in central Illinois.
You can check out my full stats and rankings, including my 10th place in the state for 2A IL batting average, on MaxPreps.
Beyond the field, I take pride in being a disciplined athlete who stays focused on my team and my goals. Everything I do off the field—whether it’s staying out of trouble, working hard in the gym, or being there for my teammates—directly impacts my performance on the field.
Outside of baseball, my priorities are faith, family, and friends. I also love America. I'm the son of Kyle and Jule, and I have sister (Kerbi) and one brother (Payson).
